About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Staff Software Developer to lead the design and development of our Observability Platform, including Metrics, Logging, Tracing, Metering, and Operational Data Catalog. As a key member of our Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) division, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and reliable solutions that power our customer experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop large-scale Observability solutions encompassing metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting.
  • Architect and manage technologies in our stack, including ElasticSearch/OpenSearch, Prometheus, Kafka, Kinesis, Flink, Timestream, Lambda, and Kubernetes running on public clouds such as AWS and built using IAC tools such as Terraform.
  • Collaborate with hybrid remote/in-office teams across multiple regions and time zones to drive best practices and establish standards for Observability.
  • Provide feedback to hiring managers on candidates and advocate for an inclusive and supportive engineering culture across all teams.
  • Coach and mentor up to staff level and provide input to leadership on developmental needs and growth opportunities for team members.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent software development background.
  • 12+ years of relevant software development experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in large-scale Observability solutions.
  • Expertise in commercial and open-source technologies in the log management, distributed tracing, and analytics domains.
  • Proficiency in software and infrastructure development principles, design patterns, and data structures.
  • Proficiency with strong object-oriented design and programming skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing scalable web services built upon distributed systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals and a proven track record of implementing reliable software in an 'always-on' environment.
  • Ability to drive best practices and establish standards for Observability.
  • Experience collaborating in hybrid remote/in-office teams across multiple regions and time zones.
