Estimator Lead

Ainsworth is seeking an experienced Estimator Lead to join our team. As an Estimator Lead, you will be responsible for developing accurate and competitive estimates for industrial, commercial, and institutional projects.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough reviews of specifications and drawings to ensure accurate estimates.
- Develop comprehensive material and labor take-offs to support estimate development.
- Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and owners to ensure accurate pricing and delivery.
- Review estimates with project managers and service managers to ensure alignment with labor, material, equipment, and subcontracting costs.
- Prepare tenders by organizing and tabulating material, equipment, labor, and subcontract costs.
- Liaise with procurement to obtain pricing on estimate components.
- Participate in site reviews, tender reviews, and project meetings to ensure accurate estimate development.
- Provide guidance on estimate viability, possibility of winning, and potential extras to inform team decisions.
- Prepare risk reviews for project managers and service managers to support estimate development.
- Assist the sales force in developing proposals as needed.
- Review tender closing documents and obtain signed/sealed certificates, bonding, and insurance.
- Track bids and proposals in an Excel sheet and submit to project admin for CRM entry.
- Utilize estimating software to enhance, streamline, and improve estimate development.
- Work in a team environment to support each other and achieve collective success.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and quality system operating procedures.
- Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies and regulations.
- Minimum 5 years of estimating experience in HVAC, hydronics, and plumbing.
- Post-secondary degree or higher.
- Familiarity with building code and plumbing code.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, with Excel being essential.
- Ability to adapt to new software and applications as required.
- A trade certificate would be a great asset.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet strict deadlines.
