About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the position of General Manager, Economic Development. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of economic growth strategies that drive regional prosperity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute innovative economic development strategies that foster long-term regional growth.
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders, including townships and the City of Peterborough, to advance economic diversification and promote sustainable growth.
  • Manage business development initiatives that attract new ventures, retain existing businesses, and fuel job creation.
  • Provide guidance and input to public agencies, business improvement area boards, and community associations to increase investment and support for local businesses.
  • Build and maintain relationships with business and community leaders, potential investors, and other stakeholders to promote the County as a location of choice for investment and employment growth.
Requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive results-oriented initiatives.
  • Proven experience in economic development, business development, or a related field, with a strong understanding of regional economic growth strategies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including local government, business, and community groups.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and develop effective solutions.
