We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vice-President to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our Global Risk Management team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the sound asset growth and profits of our centres, subsidiaries, and affiliates.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and drive a customer-focused culture throughout your team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Adjudicate on credits within assigned limits, provide recommendations for over-limit/out-of-policy deals to the Senior Credit Committees, and authorize waivers, amendments, and non-standard documentation.
  • Ensure well-founded and profitable growth in the Global Wealth Management credit portfolios by developing local lending policies and strategies, providing sound and timely decisions on applications for credit, and monitoring results against plans.
  • Ensure that existing portfolios are maintained at a level of acceptable quality and risk by regularly monitoring the assigned portfolio, identifying issues, and taking remedial action in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to the governance of Canadian Wealth Management advisory services as a voting member in the Canadian Wealth Management Product Risk Committee and Product Due Diligence Committee.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to regional Chief Risk Officers and Credit Risk Management units and contribute to the development and implementation of International Wealth Management lending programs.
  • Direct day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank's risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits.
Requirements:
  • Graduate University degree in business or economics.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Bank's lending policies, procedures, and practices.
  • 10-15 years of relevant work experience.
  • Given the accountabilities for Latin American and Quebec markets, Spanish and/or French language skills are an asset.
  • In-depth understanding of Wealth Management businesses and credit risk management in general, multiple Retail, Small Business, Private Banking, Wealth Management, and Commercial products and associated policies/procedures.
