Job Title: Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our team at the Pauline Potter Health Centre.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work autonomously to diagnose, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals, and perform procedures within the legislated scope of practice and where required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct care and collaborate with other members of the health care team.
  • Work in close collaboration with Physicians.
  • Adhere to the NSCN Standards for Nursing Practice and the Code of Ethics.
  • Identify, analyze, and evaluate activities that are reflective of quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Master of Nursing: Advanced Nursing Practice stream or equivalent NP program.
  • Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner with CRNNS - Family/All Ages (or pending).
  • Current BCLS Certification.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Recent relevant experience working in a Nurse Practitioner role within Long Term Care preferred.
Required Skills:
  • Assessment and Intervention: Clinical/diagnostic reasoning, care planning, case management, evaluation of client self-care and related outcomes coupled with nursing care.
  • Communication: Builds positive and open relationships with residents, families, community partners, team members, and other professionals.
  • Critical Thinking: Clinical judgment and problem solving with the ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data sources.
  • Person-Centered Practice: Strong ethical standards and a commitment to professional development and life-long learning.
  • Teaching: Ability to transmit information grounded in behavior change and principles of self-management.
  • Time and Resource Management: Implementing activities to promote cooperation among relevant others.
  • Leadership: Promotes staff morale, cooperation, assertiveness and risk-taking.
  • Language Competencies: Ability to work with others to deliver care in other languages is an asset.
  • Technology Literacy: Experience with Microsoft Office and electronic health records.
