About the Role:

The Royal Inland Hospital Laboratory is seeking a skilled Operations Supervisor, Grade VI, to oversee the daily activities of laboratory personnel. This Medical Laboratory Technologist position is responsible for supervising staff, coordinating work flow, and ensuring the smooth operation of the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise and direct laboratory staff, including distributing work, disseminating information, and assigning staff to cover absences.
Perform supervisory duties, including reviewing work performance, motivating staff, and identifying problems with performance.
Ensure equipment is maintained, including monitoring its operation and making arrangements for maintenance and repairs.
Maintain an appropriate inventory of equipment and consumables.
Provide technical assistance, answer questions, and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Coordinate site-specific method evaluations and validations, ensuring data is completed and forwarded to the Technical Specialist and Pathologists for approval.
Evaluate and monitor internal and external quality control data, ensuring appropriate documentation is completed.
Interpret and follow up on quality indicator reports and Patient Safety Learning System events, ensuring documentation is completed in a timely manner.
Ensure the department meets Health and Safety standards, documenting and updating staff on changes to established safety policy and procedures.
