Job Title: Health & Social Services Manager

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Health & Social Services Manager is responsible for the direct supervision of a growing health & social services department and for ensuring the effective delivery of health and social service programs to serve the needs of all Michipicoten First Nation Citizens.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Leadership: Develop, implement, and evaluate health and social services programs and services.
  • Finance & Administration: Manage departmental finances, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Operations and Maintenance: Ensure the effective delivery of health and social services programs and services, including recruitment, career planning, coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Human Resources Management: Recruit, train, and develop staff to meet the needs of the department.
  • Quality Management: Ensure the delivery of high-quality health and social services programs and services.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit reports to the Director of Operations and other stakeholders.
  • Funding: Seek funding enhancements to improve service opportunities.
  • Building Relationships: Build effective relationships with Michipicoten First Nation Citizens and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A university degree in Health Sciences, Social Services, or a related field of study.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years experience working in a health setting, preferably in the Anishinaabe community, including the development, implementation, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of health and social services programs and services.
  • Management Experience: Minimum 5 years management experience, including recruitment, career planning, coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
    • Detail-oriented with ability to put the complex puzzle pieces of community efforts together.
    • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
    • In-depth knowledge of First Nation health and education issues.
    • Knowledge of and experience with relevant health and education legislation.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to build effective relationships with Michipicoten First Nation Citizens and external stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and satisfactory driver's abstract.
  • Satisfactory criminal record check with Vulnerable Sector Screen.
