After School Childcare Worker

Job Summary

Provide ongoing supervision and interaction with children, planning and participating in daily activities for small groups. Key Responsibilities
  • Arrive on time and remain for the designated period.
  • Supervise children at all times, never leaving them unattended.
  • Assist children with hygiene needs as required.
  • Support children with assignments and activities.
  • Collaborate with the site supervisor to provide daily services and reports.
  • Coordinate planned activities as directed by the site supervisor.
  • Assist with distributing snacks, supplies, and other materials.
  • Refer serious discipline issues to the site supervisor.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions related to the afterschool program.
Requirements To succeed in this role, the individual must be able to perform each key responsibility satisfactorily. The following requirements are indicative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed:
  • High school diploma.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and parents.
  • Knowledge of child development.
  • Certification in first aid and CPR/AED.
  • Positive attitude towards working with children.
Physical Demands The position requires numerous physical demands while working with children. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand, walk, bend, run, stoop, lift, and perform other physical tasks. The following are some of the physical demands of the job:
  • Physically capable of lifting 40 pounds.
  • Sufficiently mobile to ensure the safety of students and participate in activities.
  • Able to be active for an extended period.
  • Able to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
