About Mozilla

Mozilla is a pioneering non-profit technology company that has shaped the internet for the better over the last 25 years. We make groundbreaking brands like Firefox, the privacy-minded web browser, and Pocket, a service for keeping up with the best content online.

We are a diverse team of innovators who focus on areas including AI, social media, security, and more. Our mission is to make the internet better for people, not companies.

As a wholly owned subsidiary of the non-profit Mozilla Foundation, we are driven by our mission rather than profit. This means we can focus on creating open-source software that enables people to enjoy the internet on their terms.

About this role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Staff Software Engineer and technical lead on the Credential Management team. You will be responsible for leading our engineering team that provides an easy, intuitive, reliable, and seamless capture, management, and auto-fill experience of passwords, payment methods, and addresses within our Firefox browser.

  5. Responsible for the triaging and resolution of product issues that impact our users – large and small.
  6. Mentor others by stewarding some of your responsibilities to more junior engineers.
  7. Work with cross-functional teams across Mozilla to support and extend existing systems to apply innovative ways and technologies in reaching strategic Firefox objectives and goals.
  8. Collaborate with management to provide feedback on our strategy and turn that strategy into concrete actions for the team.

  • 7+ years of overall software engineering experience.
  • Proven ability to successfully lead and ship complex software projects.
  • Experience in working on complex full-stack systems at scale.
  • Proven experience in JavaScript. C++ and/or Rust is a bonus.

  • Working experience with SQL.
  • Ability to take initiative in a loosely structured environment to lead your team to success.
  • An interest and ability to work in a distributed and cross-functional team.
  • Creative problem-solving.
  • Commitment to our values: welcoming differences, being relationship-minded, practicing responsible participation, and having grit.

Bonus points

  • Experience in data privacy and security.
  • Experience leading scrums and sprint ceremonies.
  • Experience working in open source.
