As part of our team, you will contribute to safe and efficient air travel across our vast network, utilizing state-of-the-art De Havilland Dash 8-400 (Q400) turboprop aircraft.

  • A minimum monthly guarantee of 75 credit hours
  • No dedicated reserve-only scheduling lines
  • Customizable schedules through our socialized schedule bidding program

In addition to our benefits, our pilots have access to non-seniority based standby travel perks within the WestJet Group and jump seat agreements with partner airlines. We also offer internal opportunities for career advancement and fleet movement.

As a Direct Entry Captain, you will be responsible for leading by example with honesty and integrity, ensuring effective communication among the crew and our guests. You will operate the Q400 in accordance with regulations and standards set out by Transport Canada, the manufacturer, and WestJet Encore.

To be eligible for this role, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a Transport Canada Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL)
  • Have at least 2000 hours of total time (fixed-wing aircraft)
  • Have 250 hours of fixed-wing pilot-in-command time
  • Have 500 flight hours under CARs 705 or equivalent
  • Hold a valid Transport Canada Group 1 Instrument Rating and Class 1 Medical Certificate
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Have a primary residence in Canada

We welcome candidates with experience and additional qualifications that exceed minimum requirements. Examples include multi-engine, multi-crew, internal WestJet experience, or graduation from one of our partner schools.

Our compensation package is highly competitive, offering a base salary of around $120,000 per year, plus benefits such as extended health, dental, and travel privileges.
