About the Opportunity

At Ontario Health, we are seeking a skilled Research Associate (Exposure) to join our Occupational Cancer Research Centre team. This temporary full-time position is a 12-month contract, with opportunities to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

About the Role

The Research Associate (Exposure) will be responsible for conducting research and analysis activities based on project, program, and operational plans. This role involves working independently and collaboratively with other staff to advance our understanding of workplace risk factors and exposures and work-related risk of disease in Ontario.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide study, project, program, and operational support as required
  • Develop tools, templates, and processes for research and analysis activities, including grant-funded studies
  • Identify key sources of information and data
  • Define research scope, expected deliverables, and workplan in coordination with the Manager and Scientists
  • Conduct testing and sampling, including air, surface, biomonitoring samples, using appropriate methods and measurement equipment
  • Recruit and communicate with workplaces and workers as needed
  • Travel to sites across Ontario for field studies
  • Review and analyze information and data collected
  • Conduct advanced statistical analyses using R and present findings in reports and knowledge transfer products
  • Draft reports summarizing research conducted and providing recommendations on actions required
  • Contribute to the analysis, interpretation, and writing of research articles for publication
  • Support the Manager and Scientists in presenting research and analysis to stakeholders

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in Occupational or Environmental Hygiene or a related occupational health and safety field
  • 2-3 years of experience or equivalent
  • Ability to coordinate all aspects of a research project
  • Strong research and analytical capabilities
  • Proficiency in R software for statistical analysis
