Key Responsibilities

The Policy Development Officer will lead and/or coordinate operational policy development, policy analysis, research, and program development processes to advance divisional priorities and objectives, in partnership with staff and management.


The Officer will identify policy, resource, and systems issues and gaps, and lead and directly conduct ongoing qualitative and quantitative research and analysis of trends/activities related to assigned policy areas.


The Officer will evaluate the strengths/weaknesses and effectiveness of policies, by-laws, and programs to provide information and identify emerging issues and opportunities to management to support decision-making.


The Officer will develop and prepare standard operating procedures and/or policy and program guidelines for the implementation of new policies, practices, protocols, by-laws, and by-law amendments.


Key Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary education in health, public administration, public policy, social science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


The candidate will have considerable experience with policy development and implementation in a long-term care or health care setting, as well as project management and engagement/consultation processes.


The candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills and highly developed strategic, organizational, analytical, and conceptual thinking skills.
