Job Opportunity: Student Monitor Position at Eastern Townships School Board

At Eastern Townships School Board, we are committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment for our students. We are seeking a Student Monitor to join our team, working in conjunction with teachers and students services staff to ensure a smooth and successful school experience.

About the Role

The Student Monitor will be responsible for supervising students in the school and its buildings, ensuring that rules are observed and that students are safe. This will involve making rounds, giving warnings, observing, and reporting any abnormal situations to the designated personnel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise students during arrival and departure of school buses as well as on the bus
  • Supervise students in the cafeteria and assist with eating, dressing, and getting around as needed
  • Participate in carrying out and supervising student activities in conjunction with teachers and students services staff
  • Maintain a safe environment, particularly in stopping fights and other acts of aggression
  • Administer first aid as necessary
  • Locks and unlocks rooms and gates, and ensures return of locks
  • Assist with monitoring absences, including collecting absence lists and notifying parents

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require a secondary school diploma or equivalent, as well as a certificate in standard first aid. You will also need to have one year of pertinent experience in areas requiring self-discipline, general concepts in psychology, and human relations skills.

Working Conditions

This is a part-time position, working 5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. You will be based in Richmond, Quebec, and will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of energy and enthusiasm.

Compensation

The successful candidate will be paid $24.17-$26.30 per hour, depending on experience.
