Job Summary

We seek a full-time Senior Structural Engineer - Concrete Design Specialist with experience in wood or concrete design to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with our Principals to deliver high-quality projects and develop your skills through direct mentorship.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with Architects and Contractors: Develop elegant structural solutions that meet the needs of clients and stakeholders.
  2. Prepare Detailed Structural Designs: Create detailed designs for building components and perform calculations to ensure safety and efficiency.
  3. Enhance Design Processes: Work with our internal technical teams to enhance design processes, tools, and standards, driving innovation and excellence in our field.
  4. Review Shop Drawings and Conduct Site Visits: Review shop drawings and conduct site visits to ensure compliance with project requirements and identify areas for improvement.
  5. Preliminary Structural Schematic Designs: Develop preliminary structural schematic designs to support project development and collaboration with stakeholders.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  1. Proficient in Canadian Building & Material Design Standards (Wood or Concrete): Demonstrate expertise in designing structures using Canadian building codes and material standards.
  2. Experience working with Multiple Materials: Showcase ability to design and analyze structures using various materials, including wood and concrete.
  3. Strong Communication Skills: Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills in English to effectively collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders.
  4. Organizational and Planning Skills: Demonstrate ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results.
  5. Collaborative Team Environment: Thrive in a collaborative team environment, building strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve common goals and objectives.

Required Training and Experience

  1. Undergraduate Degree in Civil Engineering, specializing in Structural Engineering: Hold an undergraduate degree in civil engineering with a focus on structural engineering.
  2. At least 3 years of Focused Experience in Concrete Design: Showcase at least 3 years of experience in concrete design, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results.
  3. Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC: Be registered as a professional engineer or engineer-in-training with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role ranges from $70,000 to $115,000 per year, depending on experience and technical expertise. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including dental care, extended health care, life insurance, paid time off, and vision care.

Location and Schedule

The successful candidate will be based in Burnaby, BC, and required to commute to our office. The schedule is Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime as needed.
