Job Summary - Material Mover

We are seeking a skilled Class 3 truck driver to load and unload ferrous and non-ferrous materials using various equipment such as roll-off containers, luger boxes, end dumps, gondola trailers, and flat decks in a safe and appropriate manner.

Responsibilities - Logistics Specialist

  1. Comprehend and adhere to Canadian Federal and Provincial rules and regulations regarding driver hours, logs, weight restrictions, height restrictions, and tarp requirements.
  2. Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, reporting any discrepancies or potential hazards immediately.
  3. Maintain all maintenance items according to the company's policy, including greasing, tire pressure, etc.
  4. Monitor overweight loads and unsafe conditions, contacting dispatch personnel before leaving the supplier site.
  5. Handle supplier requests and complaints, communicating any service shortfalls to dispatch personnel and/or supervisors.
  6. Operate equipment safely and responsibly.
  7. Recognize potential hazards in the service area and report them to dispatch personnel.
  8. Manage a high volume of container collections, informing dispatch of any delays affecting the schedule.

Education and Experience - Truck Driver Class 3

  1. A High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
  2. Possess a Class 3 driver's license with air endorsement for luger trucks.

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies - Transportation Specialist

  1. Familiarity with over-the-road carrier and local delivery regulations.
  2. Ability to work long hours, endure poor weather conditions, and maintain a high level of physical stamina.
  3. No driving restrictions.
  4. Punctuality and dependability, with minimal absences and effective scheduling of time off.
  5. Positive, courteous, and respectful interactions with suppliers.
  6. Safety-conscious and oriented.
  7. Comfortable working in variable weather conditions.
  8. A reliable means of transportation to and from work.
