Job Summary:

Metro is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Manager to join our team in the Fruits and Vegetables department. As an Assistant Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the department and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Department Manager in overseeing daily operations, including purchasing, inventory management, and cost control.
  • Supervise and train a team of sales associates to provide outstanding customer service and ensure a positive shopping experience.
  • Collaborate with the Department Manager to develop and implement sales strategies to drive business growth and increase customer loyalty.
  • Participate in inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and stocking of products.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a retail or grocery store environment, preferably in a produce department.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and customers.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
