Senior Estimator Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team at Golderado Contracting Corp. As a Senior Estimator, you will play a critical role in the fulfillment of PME's bidding requirements.

About the Role

  • Schedule and chair estimating planning and coordination meetings to ensure effective organization and communication among team members.
  • Set up and maintain estimating software to streamline the estimating process and improve accuracy.
  • Develop strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors to secure favorable quotes and terms.
  • Lead and coordinate the estimating team to achieve project goals and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and direct the overall estimating process for bids, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to promote professional growth and development within the estimating team.
  • Accountable for developing forecast costs and implementing control procedures to minimize risks and maximize profits.
  • Ensure that bid packages are complete and accurate, and make informed decisions about whether to bid or not.
  • Develop checklists to coordinate the estimating team and establish electronic job files to improve organization and efficiency.
  • Perform risk assessments and validate insurance requirements to mitigate potential liabilities.
  • Review Quality Control and Safety requirements to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Attend Pre-Tender Site Visits to gather essential information and assess project feasibility.
  • Define subcontract scopes, request quotes, and evaluate vendor proposals to secure best-value solutions.
  • Oversee material and labor takeoffs to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Set up Bid2Win software for estimate input and prepare preliminary construction schedules and manpower histograms.
  • Prepare all submission documents, including execution plans, bonds, qualifications, and charge-out rates.
  • Establish timely 30% and 100% management reviews of estimates to ensure quality and accuracy.

About You

  • You hold an Engineering Degree or Technologist Certificate, preferably with experience in civil and heavy earthworks.
  • You have at least five years of experience in a similar role, with expertise in industrial projects and concrete works.
  • You possess excellent analytical skills, strong computer proficiency, and experience with software such as Bid2Win, Microsoft Projects, Excel, Proprietary Software, and Primavera.
  • You have the ability to mentor junior estimators and field engineers, demonstrating strong people skills and leadership capabilities.
  • You have a strong background in industrial earthworks and concrete works, with a focus on delivering high-quality results and meeting project deadlines.
