Join Seasons Retirement Communities as a Care Attendant - Memory Support and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents. As a member of our care team, you will provide exceptional care and support to individuals with dementia and cognitive impairment.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide person-centered care services to residents, including medication administration, ensuring professionalism, dignity, and compassion in every interaction.
- Collaborate with the care team to follow infection control measures and maintain a safe and secure environment for residents, staff, and families.
- Assist with activity programs, housekeeping tasks, and laundry as assigned, promoting a person-centered approach to care.
- Respond to resident medical, physical, and emotional needs with collaboration from the Memory Care Manager and Health and Wellness Manager.
- Perform set-up, serving, and tear-down services for daily meal services, and assist residents with walking to and from the dining room and eating.
- Support a culture of growth and development, completing all necessary education requirements in a timely manner.
- Covid-19 vaccination is mandatory.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Current Safe Food Handler's certification.
- Enrolled in the Alberta Health Care Aide (HCA) Directory (applicable to Alberta applicants only).
- Empathy and compassion for the needs of the elderly, with a focus on individuals with Alzheimer's and dementia.
- Ability to communicate effectively, following written and verbal instructions.
- Strong ability to organize and prioritize workload throughout scheduled shifts.
- Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with residents, team members, and guests.
- Knowledge of medical equipment is considered an asset (blood pressure machine, oximeter, glucometer) and/or the ability to learn these skills with training.
- Previous experience providing personal care in a healthcare environment is preferred.
