About the Role

The Off Campus Living Advisor is responsible for developing and maintaining off-campus living resources for students at Simon Fraser University. This role serves students on all three SFU campuses, with a primary focus on international students. The position creates and maintains off-campus housing resources, including communication and educational resources to support students during their transition to off-campus housing. This includes short-term accommodation listings and education for incoming students, those transitioning from campus housing to off-campus housing, and supporting access to information and education for any student related to decision making that influences their housing situation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain off-campus living resources for students
  • Create and disseminate educational resources to support students during their transition to off-campus housing
  • Provide advice and support to students in challenging housing situations
  • Liaise and manage partnerships with campus and external partners to support students in finding and utilizing off-campus housing

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Communication, Community Development, or a related field, and three years of relevant experience serving a diverse student population. The candidate should have strong knowledge of relevant BC legislation and bylaws, excellent presentation and facilitation skills, and the ability to exercise sound judgment, diplomacy, and discretion to maintain confidentiality and provide advice and referrals.
