About the Role

We are seeking a Functional Mobility Assistant to join our care team. This temporary full-time contract position (1 year) will support an individualized restorative and maintenance program for our residents.

The successful candidate will work under the direction of our Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapist to develop and implement a personalized care plan for each resident.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of individualized restorative and maintenance programs for residents.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to residents.
  • Educate and support care partners, residents, and families on transfer techniques, equipment, and other areas within your scope of practice.
  • Assist in updating care plans, transferring information, and communicating changes to care partners.
  • Provide assistance with meals as needed.
  • Maintain safety equipment, such as wheelchairs, walkers, transfer belts, and slings, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment related to transfers or offloading.

Requirements

  • OTA/PTA diploma or equivalent education.
  • A keen interest in working with seniors in long-term care.
  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated flexibility, creativity, and time management skills.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to learn and work independently when trained.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening, empathy, and effective communication.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, iPads, and software/equipment aimed at enhancing the lives of seniors.
  • Understanding and commitment to Hillside Pines' Mission, Vision, Values, and the Eden Alternative philosophy.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $55,000 - $65,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.

A thorough benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage, is also included.
