About the Role:

As a Registered Nurse with Alberta Health Services, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team providing high-quality patient care in our 30-bed Long Term Care unit. Your responsibilities will include assessing patient needs, developing and implementing care plans, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care, including administering medications, performing medical procedures, and monitoring patient conditions
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and emotional needs, identifying areas for improvement and developing targeted care plans
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, therapists, and social workers, to ensure comprehensive care
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers to ensure informed decision-making and optimal care outcomes
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that enhance patient care

Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in long-term care or gerontology
  • Knowledge of gerontological nursing principles and practices
  • Ability to speak an Indigenous language (an asset)
