We are seeking a qualified Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to provide long-term substitute support to students with hearing loss in our schools.
Key Responsibilities- Provide and implement programming to develop students' language, speech, and auditory skills.
- Support students in a small class or resource/withdrawal setting.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate support and develop individualized plans.
- Use amplification and assistive technology to support student learning.
- Communicate with parents and other stakeholders to ensure consistent support.
- Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing qualifications or currently enrolled in a Deaf Education Program.
- Knowledge of the Ontario Curricula and flexibility to work in a range of grade areas.
- Experience working with personal and classroom amplification.
- Ability to drive to multiple locations.
- Working towards Specialist Qualifications: Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
- Regular classroom teaching experience.
- Experience with assistive technology to support literacy and numeracy acquisition.
- Strong working knowledge of literacy skills.
- Experience working with special needs students.
