Job Title: Assistant Director of Finance

CAHRD Centre for Aboriginal Human Resource Development Inc is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Director of Finance to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Finance will assist the Director of Finance with day-to-day accounting tasks, including payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and banking. The successful candidate will also assist with the planning and development of comprehensive capital and operating budgets, prepare financial statements, and oversee the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, payroll, and claims.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with day-to-day accounting tasks, including payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and banking.
  • Assist with the planning and development of comprehensive capital and operating budgets.
  • Prepare financial statements and reports as required.
  • Oversee the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, payroll, and claims.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Assist in the implementation of new fiscal policies and training of staff as required.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of finance department staff.
  • Respond to inquiries and provide reports to the Director of Finance and/or Executive Director as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual audit process.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of all financial and employee files.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or CPA program or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education specializing in accounting.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in financial operations in a finance/accounting position.
  • Records maintenance and database management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications and automated financial systems.
  • Knowledge of business practices and procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP and federal and provincial financial regulations.
  • Advanced knowledge of non-profit sector financial, accounting, and budgeting principles and procedures.
  • Ability to execute and integrate complex financial analyses and prepare comprehensive capital/operating budget summaries and projections.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Proven ability to supervise staff.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Indigenous community of Winnipeg.
