Position Summary:
We are seeking a Lead Actuarial Analyst to enhance our Product and Pricing division in Canada. This role is pivotal in shaping our local operations, particularly within the Travel Insurance sector, where we provide comprehensive solutions for clients traveling domestically and internationally.
Reporting Structure:
This position reports directly to the Chief Insurance & Product Officer and is based in a hybrid work environment, promoting collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and manage risks associated with both domestic and international tenders.
- Collaborate with the Commercial team to develop optimal offerings for our partners.
- Present pricing proposals, anticipated profitability, and potential concerns to both Local and Global Underwriting Committees, as well as partners when necessary.
- Drive portfolio profitability through in-depth technical analyses segmented by product and market.
- Identify necessary pricing adjustments or alternative strategies to enhance profitability.
- Support Onboarding and IT teams in ensuring the accuracy of rating formulas.
- Work alongside data teams to enhance data availability and automate profitability monitoring dashboards.
- Validate pricing in line with global underwriting standards.
- Contribute to international initiatives aimed at standardizing Product and Pricing processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience as an underwriter or actuarial analyst within the Property & Casualty or Accident & Sickness Insurance sectors.
- Strong grasp of statistical methods and proficiency in regression techniques/generalized linear models (GLMs) for data analysis and predictive modeling.
- Proficiency in Python or R for data manipulation and GLM applications.
- Advanced Excel skills for complex pricing analysis and data management.
- Exceptional analytical and synthesis skills.
- Ability to convey technical findings to non-technical audiences.
- Proactive, relationship-oriented, and driven by curiosity and initiative.
- Organized and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in the Travel Insurance sector is preferred.
- Completion of actuarial exams is advantageous.
- Familiarity with PowerBI and SQL is highly desirable.
- Additional scripting or automation experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in French is an asset.
