Job Summary

Mackenzie Health is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team in the Pathology department. As a Grossing Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the laboratory by grossing biopsy specimens in a timely and accurate manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and handle different types of biopsies with attention to detail
  • Complete gross dictations accurately and efficiently
  • Assist in preparing send out tests and frozen sections
  • Ensure positive patient identification for each specimen container
  • Organize and file empty specimen containers upon completion of gross
  • Set up laboratory equipment for daily use

Requirements

  • Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) General Diploma from a recognized school of Medical Laboratory Technology
  • Successful completion of certification exams for general registration from CSMLS
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)
  • At least one (1) year grossing experience in a clinical pathology laboratory setting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years current Pathology MLT hospital work experience
  • Previous experience using Dragon Voice Recognition an asset
