About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Local Delivery Driver to join our team at EMCO Corporation. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for safely operating a truck, making deliveries and pickups at customer and vendor locations, and ensuring timely and efficient transportation of goods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive a company truck in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Load and unload trucks, operate forklifts, and other material handling equipment as needed.
- Secure loads properly to prevent damage or loss during transit.
- Complete pre-trip inspections and report any mechanical issues to management.
- Understand and follow all safety regulations at customer locations and the warehouse.
- Unload materials at designated locations and obtain signatures from receiving parties.
- Provide sales leads by noting potential customers during deliveries.
- Support warehouse activities, including receiving shipments, verifying materials, and entering data into the computer system.
- Maintain a clean and safe warehouse environment by removing debris and organizing storage areas.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent; college or university degree an asset.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving abstract.
- Experience driving a truck and making deliveries preferred.
- Knowledge of laws and regulations governing driving motor vehicles and commercial vehicles.
- Understanding of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act.
- Excellent relationship-building skills with customers, vendors, and teammates.
- Ability to learn to safely operate a forklift and other material handling equipment.
- High level of attention to detail and ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
