Job Title: Recreation Therapist

About the Role:

At Mackenzie Health, we are seeking a talented Recreation Therapist to join our team. As a Recreation Therapist, you will work within the context of a dynamic client/patient and family recovery model of care, addressing the social, physical, spiritual, emotional, and cognitive needs of clients/patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, plan, facilitate, schedule, organize, and implement various therapeutic recreation programs within both inpatient and outpatient environments.
  • Conduct assessments, developing individual recreation plans, completing patient documentation, skill instruction, development of program goals and objectives, and evaluating a variety of individual and group recreation programs.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies with a concentration in Therapeutic Recreation from an accredited university.
  • Current CPR/First Aid.
  • Member in good standing with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO).
  • 3-5 years' experience working on an Acute Inpatient Psychiatric Unit and Mental Health Day Hospital Program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in EPIC.
  • Current certification in non-violent crisis intervention.
  • Experience in supervising Recreation Therapy Students and volunteers.
