As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable populations. We are seeking a Fundraising Consultant to conduct a fundraising feasibility assessment and engage with community members in St. Thomas.

The successful candidate will report to the Fundraising and Community Engagement Coordinator for London and work collaboratively with their team to contribute to a growing dynamic charity. You will be someone who believes in the power of a welcoming, caring community to positively impact the health, wellbeing, and belonging of vulnerable populations.

About Indwell:

  • We have a proven track record of providing supportive housing that transforms lives.
  • We are committed to creating affordable, high-quality, energy-efficient housing communities, coupled with supportive programs, to meet the needs of over 1,250 tenants.

The part-time contract for 12 months will average 20 hours/week, including some weekend and evening meetings when working with donors and community organizations. There is a possibility to transition into a long-term role at the end of the contract.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support a new Indwell housing project development in St. Thomas.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and prospective donors to determine their receptivity to supporting Indwell's mission.
  • Assess community readiness and test a campaign goal for an Indwell capital campaign in St. Thomas.
  • Prepare a report recommending a capital campaign goal, campaign timelines, draft gift range chart, and depth chart, and revised fundraising strategy.

Indwell Community Relations:

  • Establish a strong presence in the community through outreach and engagement activities.
  • Identify opportunities to promote Indwell and participate in community events that will increase Indwell's profile and raise financial and other support commitments.
  • Provide advice on community perceptions, concerns, and opportunities.
  • Participate in recruiting Indwell Ambassadors and/or Capital Campaign Cabinet.

Requirements:

  • A commitment to upholding and modeling Indwell's mission statement, values, and other operating standards and policies.
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant area of study or at least three years of work experience in fund development participation in a capital campaign.
  • Familiarity with local organizations and service providers and the ability to tap into the network of support in St. Thomas and Elgin County for individuals with precarious housing and mental health challenges.
  • Strong interpersonal, motivation, networking, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, be flexible, organized, responsible, and take initiative.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office applications, particularly MS Excel and Word, and online collaboration tools.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • A valid 'G' class driver's license with own vehicle.
