The School District #72 (Campbell River) is seeking a highly skilled Child and Youth Worker to join our Inclusive Education Department. As a key member of our team, you will work collaboratively with teachers, counselors, and other professionals to support learner success.
Key Responsibilities- Assist school personnel in creating an inclusive school environment.
- Monitor attendance and actively work to encourage students to attend class.
- Serve as a home-school liaison to provide individual support for parents and families.
- Work with school administration, counselors, and the Inclusive Education team to reduce barriers to student attendance.
- Develop and administer behavioral management programs.
- Transport students to school and/or activities as necessary.
- Protect and respect the confidentiality of information.
- Bachelor's degree in child and youth care work or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work with Indigenous students and their families.
- Experience working in a senior secondary school setting is an asset.
- High level of interpersonal skills and ability to work harmoniously as a team member.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships.
- Working knowledge of reading and writing software programs (Microsoft 365).
- Current valid BC Driver's License, Class 5, and reliable transportation.
- Practical knowledge of Indigenous protocols and demonstrated understanding of Indigenous culture.
