Job Description

The Energy Efficiency Project Development Lead will be a key member of our Western Canada team, responsible for driving department and project objectives on large, complex, high-risk projects focused on energy efficiency and decarbonization.

This role involves leading engineering, process or financial tasks during both preliminary and detailed development of projects. It requires performing high-level analysis on more complex technical and financial elements, focusing on the breadth of bundled programs.

Additionally, the successful candidate will support engineering, process or financial tasks during solution design, and collaborate with the team to achieve business goals by following the Solutions Playbook and Best Business Practices methodology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical, process or financial support to the Solution Design Specialist during the design process.
  • Assist in developing the customer business case for the conceptual solution.
  • Lead preliminary data collection and modeling efforts for assigned opportunities.
  • Develop and validate assumptions made during solution design.
  • Build a detailed development budget and scope.
  • Work with operations teams and outside partners to develop project estimates and scopes of work.
  • Develop and present proposals and other customer communication documents.
  • Utilize specialized functional expertise as a development team member.
  • Assess design risk and be accountable for all elements of large projects.
  • Understand JCI offerings and devise alternative solutions to meet specific program requirements.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in developing multiple components of the bundled sale.
  • Perform detailed engineering or financial analysis to quantify cost savings or other customer benefits.
  • Assist in technical or financial benchmarking as needed.
  • Develop customer baselines.
  • Present to C-level or economic clients as needed.
  • Represent the development team in operational reviews of large or technically complex programs.
  • Provide risk analysis for the complete solution.
  • Create and manage budgets, timelines, and quality of assigned opportunities.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Stay current with relevant engineering or design standards and practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years' experience in designing or selling building systems, energy modeling, renewable energy systems, microgrids, construction, or facility management.
  • Function-specific licenses or certifications preferred (e.g., Professional Engineering license).
  • Competence in analysis and assessment of building systems, energy end-use analysis, energy modeling, distributed generation.
  • Ability to lead engineering teams, work effectively with others, drive results, focus on customers, and act ethically.
  • Ability to communicate with non-technical customers and simplify complex ideas.
  • Solid computer skills, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, Solutions Architect, EQuest, JC Facts, and NISC benchmarking tools.
  • Available for travel.

Estimated Salary: $90,000 - $120,000 per year.
