Community Peace Officer

The Fort McKay First Nation is a thriving community seeking a dedicated Community Peace Officer to join their team. Located in the picturesque region of Fort McKay, Alberta, this role offers a unique blend of traditional and modern lifestyles.
About the Role
This permanent full-time position involves working closely with local businesses, organizations, and law enforcement agencies to maintain public safety and security within the community. As a Community Peace Officer, you will be responsible for responding to inquiries, investigating complaints, and enforcing bylaws related to issues such as noise, parking, and animal control.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to public inquiries and investigate complaints of possible bylaw violations.
- Perform field inspections to identify and address issues such as unsightly premises, land use, and zoning infractions.
- Enforce bylaws related to burning regulations, derelict vehicles, garbage, and traffic violations.
- Deal with confidential information in accordance with First Nation policies and procedures.
- Participate in community events representing the Fort McKay First Nation.
Requirements
- Post-secondary Diploma in Police and Justice Studies or a minimum of one year's experience in a related field.
- Completion of the Community Peace Officer Induction Program (CPOIP) or equivalent as required by Alberta Justice and Solicitor General.
- Must have a Community Peace Officer Level 1 (CPO 1) designation or equivalent.
- Ability to provide a clean driver's abstract with a class 5 license.
