Qualifications and Requirements

**Education and Training:**

  • Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
  • Canadian Nursing Association specialty certification in a specialty area, such as neurosciences nursing, is preferred.

**Clinical Research Experience:**

  • Two (2) years of clinical research experience or an equivalent combination of education and training in research, preferred.

**Work Experience:**

  • Two years' recent experience in Hyper acute cerebrovascular syndrome/TIA care, seniors and/or dementia care, or two years' stroke neuro experience, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, or training.

**Certifications and Licenses:**

  • Current ECG certificate and basic CPR certificate required.
Skills and Abilities
  • **Communication Skills:**
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • **Knowledge and Expertise:**
    • Demonstrated knowledge of current theories, technologies, and best practices in specialty areas, including geriatrics, geriatric psychiatry, neurology, hyper acute cerebrovascular syndrome/TIA triage, assessment, anatomy, physiology, and treatment, as well as related risk factor modification and prevention, and self-management principles.
  • **Organizational and Time Management Skills:**
    • Demonstrated ability to organize assigned workload and set priorities.
  • **Collaboration and Teamwork:**
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a variety of internal and external contacts, including co-workers, physicians, community agency representatives, patients, residents, and families.
  • **Physical Abilities:**
    • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • **Leadership and Innovation:**
    • Demonstrated ability to facilitate change and implement best practices.
  • **Technical Skills:**
    • Demonstrated computerized software skills in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, and internet access, and ability to operate a computerized subject care information system.
  • **Research and Compliance:**
    • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of Good Clinical Practice related to clinical research.
