Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Cost Estimator Specialist to join our team at Amico Affiliates. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for heavy civil projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor work.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Quantity take-offs: You will be responsible for accurately calculating the quantities of materials, labor, and equipment required for each project.
  • Sub-trade selection: You will need to select suitable sub-trades for each project based on their expertise and pricing.
  • Pricing of scope items: You will be responsible for determining the costs associated with various scope items, ensuring that they are accurate and up-to-date.

You will also be responsible for updating and maintaining contacts and construction cost databases, as well as striving to make the estimating function "State of the Art" with integrated technologies.

Key Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A minimum of 3 years of prior estimating experience in heavy civil construction.
  • The ability to read and understand construction drawings and contract documents.
  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of standard project management software and the ability to work accurately under pressure.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to travel as required.

Bonus qualifications include experience in cost tracking, managing, and directing construction projects, as well as knowledge of contract language and civil engineering.

Travel Requirements

This role requires frequent travel to project locations and client meetings within the GTA area, with occasional travel outside of this area.
