Job Summary

The Registered Nurse on the Medicine Unit at OSMH is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in accordance with the hospital's mission, vision, and policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans
  • Conduct thorough assessments and develop individualized care plans
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as needed
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams

Requirements

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) is required
  • Minimum two (2) years medical experience is required
  • Completion of Coronary Care I certificate within the last two (2) years or recent coronary experience is required
  • Knowledge of Cardiac and Renal Care is required
  • Current certification in BCLS is required
  • Successful completion of the Physical Assessment course is required
  • Preference given to candidates with Telemetry experience and IV certification
  • Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills, professionalism, and respect for confidentiality
  • Commitment to develop knowledge, skill, and ability to care for patients requiring CAPD and BIPAP is required
  • Must be able to perform all duties in the position description
  • Satisfactory work performance and attendance record is required
