Job Title: Teacher Consultant - Provincial Outreach Program

Job Summary:

The Richmond School District is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Teacher Consultant to join our Provincial Outreach Program for the Early Years (POPEY). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing workshops and in-district supports for educators across British Columbia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver online and in-person professional development workshops on evidence-based practice in K-3 literacy instruction.
  • Collaborate with POPEY colleagues, district, and school-based staff to implement professional development initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of current research and best practices in K-3 literacy instruction.
  • Provide consultative and facilitative support to educators to enhance their instructional skills and knowledge.
  • Conduct needs assessments and develop targeted professional development plans to address literacy needs in districts.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree or specialized diploma in Education or a related field.
  • BC Ministry of Education - Teacher Regulation Branch certification.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in teaching K-3 and conducting professional development at the school, district, or organizational levels.
  • Proven track record of successful teaching and professional development experience.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, or Métis) applicants are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience working with diverse learners and communities.
  • Knowledge of BC's ELA curriculum and new directions in Assessment, Reporting, and Communicating Student Learning.
