Job Description

Job Title: Teacher Consultant - Provincial Outreach Program

Job Summary:

The Richmond School District is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Teacher Consultant to join our Provincial Outreach Program for the Early Years (POPEY). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing workshops and in-district supports for educators across British Columbia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement online and in-person professional development workshops that focus on evidence-based practice in K-3 literacy instruction.
  • Collaborate with POPEY colleagues, district, and school-based staff to deliver high-quality professional development.
  • Develop and deliver interactive and engaging workshops based on current research and best practices.
  • Provide consultative and facilitative support to educators to enhance their knowledge and skills in K-3 literacy instruction.
  • Stay up-to-date with current research and knowledge around how we learn to read, the reading brain, and evidence-based instructional techniques.

Requirements:

  • Qualified elementary teacher with demonstrated competencies in comprehensive K-3 literacy instruction and assessment.
  • Recent experience (within the last 5 years) in conducting professional development at the school, district, or organizational levels.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of educational change, curricular implementation, and adult learning.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of BC's ELA curriculum and new directions in Assessment, Reporting, and Communicating Student Learning.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or specialized diploma in a related field.
  • Experience working with diverse learners and in inclusive classroom settings.
