About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Assistant to join our team at Dynacare's Elliot Lake location. As a Laboratory Assistant, you will play a critical role in obtaining quality blood samples and other specimens from patients, conducting patient tests, and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain quality blood samples and other specimens from patients using skillful venipuncture techniques
  • Conduct patient tests, including ECGs, Holter Hookups, paternity, urine, drug, and breath alcohol collections
  • Ensure specimens and supporting documentation are completed as required in SOPs and ready for data entry and transportation to the laboratory
  • Provide exceptional customer service to create a positive patient experience
Requirements
  • Secondary School diploma and Laboratory Assistant training program or Medical Lab Assistance course with specialized training in phlebotomy
  • Customer-focused with a genuine care for patients' health
  • Ability to manage anxious patients through the sample obtaining process in a pleasant, calming, and reassuring manner
  • Prioritize and self-manage within a deadline-oriented environment
  • Extremely detail-oriented
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, at a level that enables clear communication with patients
