Senior Staff Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Staff Scientist to join our team at the University of Toronto's Acceleration Consortium. As a key member of our research team, you will play a critical role in advancing the field of AI-driven autonomous discovery and developing materials and molecules required to address society's largest challenges.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and execute research programs that leverage our Self-Driving Labs (SDLs) and support the research objectives of our faculty and industry partners.
- Work closely with our team of leading experts to design and implement research programs that utilize SDLs to synthesize and characterize large quantities of candidate molecules.
- Collaborate with our industry partners to develop and execute research projects that meet their requirements.
- Supervise the work of research staff, including Staff Scientists, Software Engineers, Research Associates, and Post-doctoral Fellows.
- Monitor and report on relevant research activity to our Academic Director and Executive Director.
- Ph.D. in chemistry, materials science, life sciences, physics, engineering, robotics, computer science, or related discipline.
- At least 10 years of experience in research and development, preferably with significant experience in Physical, Material, Medicinal, and/or Analytical Artificial Intelligence for Chemistry, Materials or Drug Discovery.
- Strong experience and expert knowledge of AI and automation.
- Experience working closely with a Principal Investigator or as a Principal Investigator or as Project Director with responsibilities of managing, developing and executing a major research project.
- Strong experience presenting research at academic conferences.
- Experience managing research staff and laboratory budgets.
