About the Role

The Canadian Army is seeking a skilled Line Technician to join our team. As a Line Technician, you will be responsible for providing fast, reliable, wired communications infrastructure and support to wireless systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, remove, maintain, and repair leading edge communications infrastructure
  • Expertly install and maintain interior structured cable systems, including copper cables, fibre optic cables, and supporting infrastructure
  • Integrate radio, satellite, and microwave broadband equipment and infrastructure into wired networks
  • Install and maintain communications towers and antennas
  • Install and maintain fibre optic and copper cable distribution and supporting infrastructure in buildings and military bases
Requirements
  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Canada
  • Be at least 18 years old (17 years old with parental consent)
  • Have completed at least Grade 10 or Secondaire IV in Québec
Work Environment

As a Line Technician, you will work primarily outdoors, across the country and around the world, wherever the Canadian Army has a presence. You will be required to work at heights and in confined spaces for extended periods of time and must be well-versed in the application of safety standards.

Training and Development

As a Line Technician, you will undergo comprehensive training, including the Basic Military Qualification course and the Basic Occupational Qualification Training. You will also have the opportunity to develop specialized skills through formal courses and on-the-job training.

Education and Experience

The minimum required education to apply for this occupation is the completion of the provincial requirements for Grade 10 or Secondary 4 in Quebec, including Grade 10 Applied Math or Math 416 in Quebec. Foreign education may be accepted.
