We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Executive Officer - Planning and Growth to join our team at Alberta Municipalities | Strength in Members. About the Role
The Chief Executive Officer - Planning and Growth will be responsible for guiding the planning and growth division, ensuring the effective delivery of services, and making key decisions that align with the town's strategic direction. The successful candidate will have excellent leadership and communication skills, a strong understanding of municipal planning policy, and the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and growth division, providing strategic guidance and oversight to ensure the achievement of departmental goals and objectives.
- Develop and implement plans to drive economic growth, improve infrastructure, and enhance the quality of life for residents.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including council members, senior leaders, and community groups, to build relationships and advance the town's interests.
- Making informed decisions that balance competing priorities, consider multiple perspectives, and demonstrate a commitment to excellence.
- Stay up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends, applying this knowledge to inform decision-making and drive positive change.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in land use planning, accounting, business, economics, or a related field; a master's degree is considered an asset.
- A minimum of 5-8 years of experience in planning and development, preferably in a municipal environment, with a track record of success in leading teams and driving results.
- Excellent knowledge of municipal government policies and procedures, including the Municipal Government Act and related regulations.
- A registered professional planner designation in the Province of Alberta, or consideration for a member of the Alberta Professional Planning Institute working towards obtaining their professional designation may be considered.
What We Offer
- A competitive salary of $145,000 - $165,000 per year, based on experience.
