Design Manager Role Overview
As a Design Manager at EllisDon, you will be responsible for leading the development of design proposals for P3 and other design-build projects. This includes managing the design team in creating compliant and aggressive design solutions in response to RFP requirements, as well as coordinating all disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the development of design proposals and ensure they meet project requirements and budgetary constraints.
- Lead the design team in creating design solutions that meet RFP requirements and coordinate all disciplines.
- Develop and coordinate documentation of the proposed design to support estimating the project cost.
- Develop technical submissions, including design and construction narratives and drawing packages.
- Develop project schedules and logistic plans, and manage consultant contracts and scopes of work.
- Develop and maintain relationships with partner consultants and trade contractors, and ensure design compliance and pricing adequacy.
- Work with the estimating team to ensure adequate design assumptions are managed and contained within project budgets.
Requirements
- You have a construction-related degree and eight to ten years of Design Management experience.
- You have a working knowledge of construction scopes and activities, scheduling, project management, and contract software.
- Experience in estimating and project management would be seen as an asset.
- You have the ability to confidently mentor and delegate to a large team while developing and maintaining strong client relations.
