Design Manager Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our team at EllisDon. As a Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading the development of design proposals for P3 and other design-build projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the development of design proposals, ensuring compliance with RFP requirements and coordination with all disciplines.
  • Analyze project requirements and guide design teams to meet project needs while maintaining budgetary requirements.
  • Develop a strategy to win opportunities, including the development of submissions and presentations for RFP periods.
  • Coordinate the development of documentation to support estimating project costs and develop technical submissions, including design and construction narratives and drawing packages.
  • Manage project schedules and logistics, coordinate consultant contracts, and ensure design compliance and pricing adequacy.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with partner consultants and trade contractors.
  • Work with the estimating team to ensure adequate design assumptions are managed and contained within project budgets.

Requirements

  • Construction-related degree and eight to ten years of Design Management experience.
  • Working knowledge of construction scopes, activities, scheduling, project management, and contract software.
  • Experience in estimating and project management is an asset.
  • Ability to mentor and delegate to a large team while developing and maintaining strong client relations.
