Job Overview

Software International is seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Network Systems Programmer to join our team as a 12-month renewable contract or indefinite contract. This role will be based in Canada, with the opportunity to work remotely.

About the Role:

The selected candidate will work as part of a global team providing services to a large global infrastructure client. Responsibilities include interacting with clients, vendors, and management to ensure high levels of satisfaction, as well as identifying, analyzing, and resolving complex problems on zOS host networks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Host Network Support: Acting as a resource and point of escalation for global team members.
  • Network Problem-Solving: Engaging in identifying, analyzing, and resolving complex problems on zOS host networks.
  • Network Planning: Providing planning and recommendations for changes on hardware and software components for the zOS network.
  • Mainframe Networking: Utilizing z/OS Communications Server and other products perform configuration and customization of IBM and ISV mainframe network software.
  • Project Management: Supporting project management with implementation of network software upgrades, including testing and implementation with network service provider, application teams, and internal support teams.
  • Disaster Recovery: Planning and execution of tests, including client access to DR systems during production network service.
  • Security Compliance: Ensuring mainframe network environment complies with security rules agreed by Kyndryl and client.
  • Level 3 Problem Solving: Performing level 3 problem solving and troubleshooting.
  • Leadership: Can act in a leadership role for the global team on global projects and participate on teams that impact the host network.

Requirements:

  • Technical Expertise: At least 5+ years' experience performing z/OS system support / programming, Host Network experience.
  • Demonstrable Skills: Demonstrable skills in z/OS Network Systems Programming in a multi-LPAR Sysplex environment: Communication Server VTAM : SNA, APPN, Enterprise Extender, Subarea routing, Log mode tables.
  • Communication Server TCP/IP: Communication Server TCP/IP: OSA, OSPF, zOSMF, DVIPA, DDVIPA. Network Security: PAGENT, SSL/TLS, Configuration Assistant, SSH.
  • Network Monitoring: Network Monitoring: (One or more) NetView, CA-NetMaster, OMEGAMON for Networks.
  • File Transfer: File Transfer (Two or more): Connect:Direct, CA-XCOM, ftp(s), SFTP, NetView FTP, Co:Z, Tectia.
  • Session Managers: Session managers (one or more): CA-TPX, CL-Supersession, NetView Access Services, Teleview, VTAM/Switch.
  • Print Products: Print products: CA-Spool, IBM Infoprint, VPS.
  • Diagnostics: Diagnostic skills are a must, including the ability to interpret job and task logs, syslogs, and traces.
  • Team Management: Ability to train and coach junior team members and build proficient network skills.
  • Project Coordination: Ability to coordinate multiple projects and accounts.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Scripting Languages: Experience with REXX, CList, or NCL scripting language is a plus.
  • Virtualization: Experience with z/VM, RSCS, and Vswitch is a plus.

Compensation:

The estimated salary range for this position is $75-$95 per hour, depending on overall experience, with additional benefits including C2C. The contract duration is 12 months, with possible extensions or permanent role opportunities.
