Senior Mainframe Network Infrastructure Specialist

Software International is a leading provider of technical talent to various clients, including Fortune 100, 500, and 1000 companies in Canada and the US. As a long-term partner with our global infrastructure client, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mainframe Network Infrastructure Specialist.

This role offers a unique chance to work on a 12-month contract, with possibilities for extensions or conversion to a permanent position. The salary range for this position is $75 - $95 per hour, plus C2C, depending on overall experience.

The ideal candidate will be a skilled Mainframe Network Systems Programmer with at least 5 years of experience in z/OS system support and programming, specifically in Host Network environments. Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as a resource and point of escalation for global team members
  • Identifying, analyzing, and resolving complex problems on zOS host networks
  • Providing planning and recommendations for changes on hardware and software components for the zOS network
  • Configuring and customizing IBM and ISV mainframe network software using z/OS Communications Server and other products
  • Supporting project management with implementation of network software upgrades, testing, and implementation with network service providers, application teams, and internal support teams
  • Disaster Recovery, planning, and execution of tests, including client access to DR systems during production network services
  • Ensuring mainframe network environment compliance with security rules agreed by Kyndryl and the client
  • Performing level 3 problem-solving and troubleshooting
  • Leading global teams on global projects and participating in teams that impact the host network

To excel in this role, you'll need:

  • Demonstrable skills in z/OS Network Systems Programming in a multi-LPAR Sysplex environment: Communication Server VTAM : SNA, APPN, Enterprise Extender, Subarea routing, Log mode tables
  • Communication Server TCP/IP: OSA, OSPF, zOSMF, DVIPA, DDVIPA. Network Security: PAGENT, SSL/TLS, Configuration Assistant, SSH
  • Network Monitoring: (One or more) NetView, CA-NetMaster, OMEGAMON for Networks
  • File Transfer (Two or more): Connect:Direct, CA-XCOM, ftp(s), SFTP, NetView FTP, Co:Z, Tectia
  • Session managers (one or more): CA-TPX, CL-Supersession, NetView Access Services, Teleview, VTAM/Switch
  • Print products: CA-Spool, IBM Infoprint, VPS
  • Diagnostic skills, including interpreting job and task logs, syslogs, and traces
  • Ability to train and coach junior team members and build proficient network skills
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and accounts

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE EXPERIENCE WITH REXX, CList, or NCL SCRIPTING LANGUAGE AND z/VM, RSCS, AND Vswitch.
