Enterprise Risk and Insurance Specialist

Capstone Copper is a leading mining company with a strong presence in Vancouver, Canada. As we continue to grow and expand our operations, we are seeking an experienced Enterprise Risk and Insurance Specialist to join our team.
Job Description:Key Responsibilities:- Provide expert management and administration of global risk, insurance, and surety programs.
- Offer advice and support to internal stakeholders on all matters related to risk management and insurance coverage.
- Coordinating the Enterprise Risk Management Framework processes and assisting with training and annual workshops.
- Participating in the identification, quantification, and evaluation of material risks.
- Assisting with the preparation of the annual risk workshops and critical control monitoring.
- Closing risk register reporting from all sites and key areas, including climate risk work.
- Drafting memos, policies, procedures, and templates as required.
- Assisting with public filing disclosure updates such as preparing risk factor updates for the Annual Information Form & Management's Discussion & Analysis, including ESG and climate-related risk disclosures.
- Coordinating updates to the Crisis Management Plan from all members of the Crisis Management team.
- Assisting with drafting and presenting awareness training, team training, and drills.
- Coordinating travel management by tracking travel plans to assess any areas of risk and assisting with providing travel advisories, with support from third parties.
- Effectively and strategically managing the corporate insurance program.
- Developing logical, well-reasoned, and cost-effective solutions to problems identified by internal stakeholders related to the identification and analysis of risk, the interpretation of insurance coverage, and potential claims scenarios.
- Coordinating the design, negotiation, and management of insurance programs in collaboration with insurance brokers and the insurance captive.
- Following the insurance renewal process, timelines, and critical paths with external insurance brokers.
- Participating in market submissions, including gathering and analyzing underwriting data and communicating with departments and mine sites.
- Ensuring adequate insurance coverage is obtained and maintained, including tracking and reporting.
- Reviewing and following up on renewal program documentation (i.e., binders, policies, and documentation).
- Managing insurance claims by providing direction and expert advice to internal stakeholders on claim assessment, management, and settlement where applicable.
- Tracking and reporting on claim outcomes for internal insurance coverage analysis purposes.
- Coordinating and attending annual site risk control visits.
- Coordinating insurance recommendations, including requesting status updates from sites on risk control recommendations and storing applicable evidence for external insurance audits.
- Coordinating certificates of insurance requests from sites and requesting applicable information from brokers.
- Managing financial planning and analysis for the global insurance program, collaborating with Treasury, Finance, Accounting, Corporate, and Site Controllers.
- Supporting the revision of contractual clauses related to indemnity and insurance language for procurement, sales, service, and supply contracts.
- Collaborating with the Legal department to review contracts and administer documents for signature and/or notarization.
- Conducting research on industry best practices or peer benchmarking.
- Coordinating and contributing to the drafting of governance documents, such as policies, standards, and procedures.
- Coordinating special projects as required, including the Climate Risk & Opportunity Assessment & Scenario Analysis project.
- Coordinating meeting invitations and preparing presentations, meeting materials, insurance forms/submissions, and disclosure documents.
- 3-5 years of related experience in the risk/insurance management industry, preferably in a global organization.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field, and/or designation in insurance or risk management, such as Canadian Risk Management (CRM), Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP), or equivalent.
- Strong proficiency using computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive) is required.
- Previous experience in the mining industry is an asset.
- Spanish fluency is an asset.
- Proven project management delivery.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate in local and foreign jurisdictions, with an ability to establish respectful rapport with stakeholders.
- Excellent time management and organization skills, with a proven ability to multi-task, reprioritize based on business demands, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure.
- Self-motivated and takes initiative; proactively looks for ways to add value.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality while working with sensitive information.
This position is based in Vancouver and eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. Some travel inside and outside of Canada will be required.
