**The Role**
We are seeking a Principal, Building Science Specialist to join our Canada West Leadership Team. As a technical leader within our organization, you will focus on leading building enclosure consulting work from the investigation of building enclosure performance problems through to design and construction, with a primary focus on existing buildings.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Manage and develop client relationships, including developers, architects, building owners, and other project team members
- Lead the team as project principal throughout all investigation, design, and construction stages of existing building projects
- Participate in early-stage services, including strategic advice for the integration of energy, building enclosure, heating/cooling, and ventilation performance objectives
- Continuously develop our services and approach to best address the needs of our clients and the industry
- Provide expertise and guidance, input, or internal peer review for projects
- Undertake project-specific business development activities and proposal preparation
- Mentor staff and support their career development plans
- Ensure delivery of services and products meets company quality standards, including developing internal processes and technical standards/checklists
- Assist with the development and delivery of in-house and client education and training programs
- Share knowledge on our internal technical forums and network within the building enclosure community, authoring papers, and speaking engagements at various industry events and seminars
**Requirements**
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Applied Science, or Architecture
- 15+ years of experience in building science and engineering, with knowledge of architecture and construction, with a focus on building enclosure
- Field experience addressing site conditions and managing construction process and contract issues
- Demonstrated business development experience
- Excellent technical knowledge of building science, building enclosure design, and construction processes
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with clients, staff, and consultants
- Analytical problem-solving skills and strong investigative aptitude, including troubleshooting and diagnosing building performance issues
- Strong team player who fosters teamwork and cooperation
- Fast learner with the ability to develop technical and interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills, including presenting complex technical information to staff, clients, and trades
- Solid project management skills and the ability to manage performance of others
- Strong work ethic and eagerness to assume responsibility quickly
**What We Offer**
$150,000 – $180,000 salary range
