**Job Title:** Child and Family Advocate
We are seeking a highly skilled Child and Family Advocate to join our team at Anishinabek Employment & Training Services.

**Salary:** The estimated salary for this position is between $60,000 and $70,000 per year, depending on experience.
**Job Description:
The Child and Family Advocate will be responsible for representing the interests of Shawanaga First Nation children and families in child welfare matters. This will involve working closely with the courts, social services, and other stakeholders to ensure that the rights and needs of our clients are protected and met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Representing Shawanaga First Nation children and families in child welfare matters
- Working with the courts, social services, and other stakeholders to protect and meet the needs of our clients
- Providing support and advocacy to maintain family units and advocate for satisfactory solutions to family problems
- Liaising with related service agencies and explaining the child and family service system
- Maintaining a strong knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act, the policies and procedures of the Ministry of Children & Youth Services, Customary Care Provision, and Kinship Care as CAS options rather than apprehension
**Required Skills and Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A degree or diploma in Social Work, Social Science, or a related field
- Native Child and Family Service Worker Diploma
- Minimum three years' experience working in social services or a related field in a First Nation
- Experience working with Indigenous people, organizations, and communities
- Knowledge and understanding of cultural sensitivity and traditional teachings
- Proven ability of accurate and comprehensive record keeping
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Able to interpret legislation and legal documentation
- Knowledge of Case Management techniques
- Strong demonstration of negotiation skills, techniques, and advocacy
