We are a well-established law firm based in Alberta, seeking an experienced attorney to join our team as a Lead Family Law Attorney.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Family law, Real Estate, Wills & Estates, and corporate work. We require a lawyer with a minimum of 1-5 years of experience and a Juris Doctor degree in Law. Membership in the Alberta Law Society is mandatory, and the ability to obtain ALIA insurance coverage is essential.
We provide a comprehensive support system, including workspace, advertising, equipment, and staff assistance, allowing you to focus on building your practice without worrying about back-office tasks.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough research to support case preparation and strategy development.
- Negotiate settlements and agreements on behalf of clients, ensuring their best interests are represented.
- Draft legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, motions, and briefs with precision and clarity.
- Represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, and arbitrations as necessary.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and legal trends to provide informed counsel.
- Communicate effectively with clients to explain legal processes and options available to them.
- Collaborate with other attorneys and staff within the firm to ensure comprehensive case management.
Requirements
- A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school is required.
- Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction is mandatory.
- Previous experience in a law firm or corporate legal department is preferred but not required.
- Excellent negotiation skills with a proven ability to advocate for clients effectively.
- Exceptional writing skills for drafting clear and persuasive legal documents.
What We Offer
- A competitive salary of $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience.
