Job Summary

We are seeking a part-time Program Instructor to lead pickleball and/or badminton programs for adults and older adults/seniors. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching/coaching pickleball and/or badminton, as well as leadership skills and knowledge related to the delivery of recreation programs and services.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements a safe and enjoyable beginner to intermediate program for pickleball and/or badminton.
  • Leads groups of program participants and ensures the safety and well-being of assigned classes.
  • Provides individualized instruction to assist participants with mastering skills and developing their abilities within the program.
  • Works cooperatively with participants and the Community Recreation Coordinator to maintain ongoing and effective communication.
  • Avoids hazards and takes appropriate action to deal with incidents, problems, and emergencies.
  • Creates a positive and inclusive program environment that fosters participation, skill development, and learning.
  • Performs administrative tasks necessary to support the program.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 16 years of age or older.
  • Minimum 1 year of teaching/coaching experience in pickleball and/or badminton and/or leadership skills, combined with relevant training, education, and experience.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of advanced skills/experience in pickleball and/or badminton, acquired through multiple years of participation and lessons in the sport.
  • Knowledge and experience related to the delivery of recreation programs and services.
  • Experience working with adults and older adults/seniors in a recreational setting.
  • Current Standard First Aid certification with CPR C certification.
  • Able to provide a current Criminal Reference/Vulnerable Sector check (completed in the last six months).
  • Available to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, and weekends.

What We Offer

  • $23.00-$25.00 per hour rate of pay.
  • This is a non-union position with up to 24 hours of work per week.
