Job Title: Educational Program Assistant

Shatford Memorial Elementary is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Educational Program Assistant to join our team. As an Educational Program Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational programs and services provided to students.

Job Summary:

The Educational Program Assistant will provide support to teachers and other educational staff in the delivery of educational programs and services. This will include assisting with lesson planning, preparing materials, and providing support to students with special needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist teachers and other educational staff in the delivery of educational programs and services
  • Prepare materials and resources for lessons and activities
  • Provide support to students with special needs
  • Assist with administrative tasks as required
Requirements:
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Light Lifting (up to 20 pounds)
  • Medium Lifting (up to 50 pounds)
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification
  • Trained or Willing to be Trained: Toileting, Personal Care, Other Medical Related Procedures
  • Experience Working with Autism
  • A related diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution, including a formal practicum placement will be considered an asset

Rate of Pay:

This is a 10-month position with a work schedule in accordance with the school year calendar which includes time off at Christmas, March Break and Summer break.

The starting annual salary for a 100% position is $35,817.70 including 4% vacation pay. Rates are based on a five (5) step scale with step increases occurring annually in accordance with the Collective Agreement as shown below.

EPAs are paid every two weeks with the annual salary paid across 12 months (August 1st to July 31st) for working a 10-month school year. The annual salary for term positions less than a school year is pro-rated over the length of the term.

Daily Hours of Work:

50% Position = 3.5 hours (includes one 15 minute paid break)

80% Position = 6.1 hours (includes ½ hour unpaid lunch and two 15 minute paid breaks)

100% Position = 7.5 hours (includes ½ hour unpaid lunch and two 15 minute paid breaks)
